You may be shocked to know that Doritos actually started in Disneyland during the 1960s. Using surplus tortillas and taking the original idea from the traditional Mexican snack known as totopo, Casa de Fritos (now Ranchero Del Zocalo), a Disneyland restaurant, got an idea.

They took those surplus tortillas, fried them up, added basic seasoning so that they resembled the Mexican chilaquiles (but dry). They were selling so well that Frito-Lay approached them to mass produce, and the rest is history.
