It took a while for Abhishek to finally reach that 6th degree of movement. He tried various sketches and models. But no matter what he tried, he kept having issues from running out of space, or needing individually customized gears or other parts. Until finally he discovered the “Stewart Platform”.

The Stewart Platform is a type of parallel robot that has six hydraulic jacks attached in pairs to three different positions on a platform. A device can then be placed on the top plate and will be able to move in the six degrees of freedom! Success! This type of platform has even been used in devices created by NASA.
