Custom Circuit Boards

To make little Peeqo actually work, Abhishek had to create custom circuit boards, which he used created through printing and hand-etching. He used copper boards in order to make 10 PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards). The challenge here was that they needed to be small enough to be able have thin traces that could fit inside the body and still allow enough electric current to flow through.

Abhishek outlined the following steps. First, he designed the board in the Eagle software program. Second he printed it onto transfer paper, and third he used toner to transfer onto the 2oz copper board. Fourth, he used acid to etch onto the board (1 part hydrogen peroxide, and 1 part muriatic acid). Fifth, he tinned the boards. Abhishek used liquid tin which aids soldering. Sixth, he filled the board with all the necessary components. And for the seventh and last step, he placed the board inside a re-flow oven.
