On January 25, 2016, Putin was dragged into a serious dilemma when the FBI announced that it had launched an investigation into the hacking of the Democratic National Committee’s computer system. The statement does not specifically name Russia as a primary suspect, but US officials told CNN that they believe the attack was linked to Russia.
