After winning $1 million in the Massachusetts lotto in 2004, Lisa Arcand bought a big house, enjoyed fancy vacations, and opened up a restaurant. Being foolish with her low lump-sum, Arcand eventually had to close down her failing restaurant and was flat broke just three years after she won the money. If you think about it, three years with a million dollars isn’t that bad. After inflation, it’s crazy that $1 million doesn’t seem like all that much these days.
