Scranton Loved the Show

Scranton, Pennsylvania is mostly known for its industrial past as a coal mining town and rail center, so the city eagerly embraced the show. A Dunder Mifflin logo hangs on the lamppost in front Scranton City Hall and in front of the pedestrian bridge to The Mall at Steamtown. Local newspapers published guides to exploring locations in Scranton that were mentioned on the show.

The city also held an inaugural The Office convention downtown in October 2007, and cast members B.J. Novak, Ed Helms, Oscar Nunez, Brian Baumgartner, Mindy Kaling, Angela Kinsey, Phyllis Smith, and more made appearances at the convention.
