The Office Was Cancelled Due to Fleeing Actors

After nine successful seasons, creator Greg Daniels announced NBC would finally be ending The Office. Steve Carell stepped down from his role as Michael Scott in season 7, and after a decade of filming together, most of the other main cast members were also ready to move on to other projects.

“We thought about what the future of the show should be. This feels like the last chance to really go out together,” Daniels said of the show ending. He told Vulture he thought of actors wanting to leave and all the changes planned for the next season as reasons to end the show.
