Mindy Kaling, who played Kelly, and B.J. Novak who played Ryan dated both on the show and in real life, and their real-life relationship was also on-again off-again. Kaling told InStyle, “I will freely admit: My relationship with B.J. Novak is weird as [expletive]. He is not my boyfriend, but he is not my best friend.”

She went on to say, “I guess you could describe our relationship as a ‘romantically charged camaraderie with loud arguments,’ but I don’t think Facebook would accept this as a new status.’” As of now, the pair are off-again, with Novak moving on to date Instagram model Ceilidh Garten.
