The Office: A Peek Behind The Scenes
Steve Carell Supported the Writer’s Strike
In 2007, the Writers Guild of America went on strike, sending fans of The Office and other scripted shows into a year of realtiy show purgatory. A number of regular cast members on the show were also writers, including B.J. Novak, Paul Lieberstein, and Mindy Kaling, with Kaling as the most prolific writer on staff; she was credited with 24 episodes.
While the overlap of regular cast members and writers already made it difficult for The Office to continue shooting during the strike, but Steve Carell really brought the show to a grinding halt when he stood in solidarity with writers and refused to cross the picket line.
