Ties to The Daily Show
Before becoming main cast members on The Office, Steve Carell and Ed Helms, who plays Andy Bernard, were both on Jon Stewart’s popular Comedy Central series The Daily Show. Ed Helms was a correspondent on the show from 2002 to 2009 for a total of 207 episodes. Steve Carell had a five year stint on the show, starting with Jon Stewart in 1999 and leaving in 2005. Carell appeared in 277 episodes.
Larry Wilmore was also a writer for The Office and made guest appearances as the character Mr. Brown. The comedian served as the “Senior Black Correspondent” on The Daily Show from 2006 to 2014 before landing his own spin-off show The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore.
