Breaking Bad’s Bob Odenkirk Was Originally Cast as Michael Scott

Before he landed the role of dubious fast-talking lawyer Saul Goodman on the AMC series Breaking Bad,Bob Odenkirk was cast as Michael Scott on The Office before losing the role to Steve Carell. Carell has been working on a show called Come to Papa, but when the show was cancelled, producers from The Office took the role Odenkirk had landed and gave Carell the role of Michael Scott.

Things definitely worked out for Odenkirk in the end, since his Breaking Bad character was popular enough to inspire the spin-off Better Call Saul. Bob Odenkirk also guest starred in the final season of The Office as a Philadelphia manager who was very similar to Michael Scott.
