Scott Valentine, who played Mallory’s boyfriend, has been quoted as playfully complaining that he went to a prestigious school only to play a monosyllabic dude on “Family Ties.” In the same quote, however, he then goes on to say that sometimes he only had to grunt in an episode and still received a “bundle of cash for it.”
