Once he did land the role of Alex, Michael J. Fox put his all into it. Drawing on his view of his real life brother who, apparently, was a real crack up at the family dinner table. Fox has said that while he did see some of himself in Alex too, it was his brother’s sense of humor that really helped him to develop the character.
