Songs Have To Be Cleared

What’s very interesting to note is that songs had to be cleared to be performed on TV and contestants didn’t always get to choose whether they were allowed to perform the song they wanted or not. Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery shared that he wasn’t allowed to perform the song Your Man by Justin Moore during the auditions because the song wasn’t cleared.

He said that he was going to sing it no matter what, but that if a song wasn’t cleared then it wouldn’t air on TV, which would significantly affect your chances of making the show. Miraculously, 15 minutes before he was set to audition, producers came up and said they had the song cleared.
