Saddened by his friend’s death and carrying around the guilt from having been involved that night, Williams sought out something to help him cope. What he found was cycling. The comedian became extremely passionate about biking and became enthralled with Le Tour de France, Lance Armstrong and Greg LeMond.

He started collecting bikes and riding them everywhere, whether he was home or on a film set in a big city. He even told a bicycle shop owner, Tony Tom, “cycling saved my life.” When he passed away, his children donated an incredible 87 bikes of his collection to support the Challenged Athletes Foundation and Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.
