Williams Tried to Cope With the Loss of His Friend

After John Belushi died, Williams was brought in to court. Ultimately, Catherine Evelyn Smith was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter for giving Belushi the lethal dose. Williams said of the experience, “Was it a wake-up call? Oh yeah, on a huge level. The Grand jury helped, too.”

From then on, Williams completely avoided cocaine and never touched it again. He said the events that unfolded that night, “It sobered the [expletive] out of me.” He knew he needed to find another way to calm himself down.
